4174. That’s the number of weeks in an 80-year lifespan. When I first read about this on Tim Urban’s “Wait But Why?” I was just 17 years old and, at the time, it felt like a constant reminder to make the absolute most of every second I had. I even put it on my new tab page.
Life in weeks
80 years, 1 square at a time
In the 10 years since, I’ve organized Canada’s biggest hackathon, helped bring next-generation display glasses to life, and built a little smart-home plugin that somehow ended up on Ars Technica. I’ve also attended countless music festivals, discovered my love for exploring the mountains, and become the proud owner of six pairs of skis.
But somewhere in there I also burned out. I got lost in the corporate grind, felt increasingly disillusioned with the tech industry, and wondered one too many times, “what am I doing with my life?”
So here I am. The weeks are still counting down, but maximizing every second of my life isn’t sustainable. Hot chocolate after skiing is important too, and what matters is that I choose how I spend my time intentionally.
This space is me getting back in touch with my passion, creating for the sake of creating, and sharing whatever I can’t stop thinking about.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Don’t mind the construction; I’m still renovating.
I’m glad you’re here.
